One page, not six
The standard approach for a local business website is to build a page per neighbourhood with the area name swapped and the rest of the words identical. Those are doorway pages. They are unpleasant to read, they say nothing, and search engines have been discounting them for years.
So this is one page with genuinely different content per area, because the areas genuinely are different. What follows is about the practical realities — who lives there, what the condo gyms are typically like, whether outdoor training works, and what the constraint usually turns out to be.
Clients currently train in Central Pattaya, Jomtien, Pratumnak and Naklua. East Pattaya is covered below with an honest note on scheduling.
Central Pattaya
Who is there. The widest mix of anywhere in the city. Long-stay tourists and short-stay visitors in hotels, remote workers in serviced condos, and long-term residents in the high-rise towers set back from the beach road. Ages and nationalities range across everything.
Gyms. The best-served area in Pattaya. Commercial gyms with full free-weight setups and air conditioning are within a short trip of most central addresses, which makes day-pass gym training straightforward here. If your programme needs a barbell and a rack, this is the easiest area in the city to be in.
Condo gyms. Enormously variable. The newer high-rise developments often have a genuinely usable gym floor with cardio machines, a cable station and a reasonable dumbbell range. Older and smaller buildings frequently have a single room with a treadmill, a multi-gym and dumbbells that stop early. Worth checking before assuming.
Outdoors. Workable but not the area’s strength. The beachfront is busy, the pavements are crowded and uneven in places, and traffic noise makes coaching harder. Early morning is the realistic window.
The usual constraint. Traffic and parking. Central Pattaya moves slowly at the wrong hours, which affects the time your session can start rather than whether it happens. Early morning sessions dodge most of it.
Jomtien
Who is there. Quieter and more residential than central Pattaya, with a notably higher proportion of long-term residents and retirees. A lot of European expats, a lot of couples, and a general preference for a slower pace. This is the area with the strongest overlap with over-50 training.
Gyms. Fewer options than central Pattaya and adequate for most purposes. Standalone gyms exist and tend to be less crowded, which is a genuine advantage if you dislike waiting for equipment. Specialist heavy lifting kit is harder to find than in the centre.
Condo gyms. Jomtien has a lot of large condominium developments and their gyms are the most commonly used training space in the area. Quality ranges from surprisingly good to a hot room with two machines. Buildings here also tend to have more outdoor communal space, which opens options.
Outdoors. The best outdoor area in the coverage zone. The beach road stretch is long, flat and considerably less congested than central Pattaya, and there is usable green and open space. Early-morning outdoor sessions work well here.
The usual constraint. Distance. Jomtien is long, and the far southern end is a meaningfully different journey from the northern end. If you are at the far end, a fixed regular slot is easier to arrange than ad hoc bookings. There is a dedicated guide: personal trainer in Jomtien.
Pratumnak
Who is there. The quieter hill between central Pattaya and Jomtien, and the most residential-feeling of the coastal areas. More owner-occupiers, more families, more people who chose it specifically to be away from the noise. Generally an older and more settled demographic.
Gyms. Thinner on the ground than either neighbour. Most gym-based clients here travel down into Pattaya or across to Jomtien for a day pass, which is a short trip but it is a trip. This is one area where condo-based training is often the practical answer rather than the compromise.
Condo gyms. Frequently good. Pratumnak has a number of mid-range and upper-range developments built with residents rather than short-stay tourists in mind, and the facilities tend to reflect that. Still worth checking the dumbbell range before planning a strength block around it.
Outdoors. Good, with one caveat that is also an opportunity: the hill. Pratumnak is genuinely hilly, which makes for excellent conditioning work and awkward flat running. There are quiet roads and viewpoints that are pleasant to train on early in the day.
The usual constraint. The hill again, in the other direction. It affects walking to a venue, and it is worth factoring in if mobility is limited. Sessions in your building often make more sense here than sessions you have to travel to.
Naklua
Who is there. North of the city and the most Thai in character of the coastal areas, with an established long-term foreign population layered over it. Quieter, more of a working neighbourhood, and popular with people who have lived in Thailand a long time. A noticeably different feel from central Pattaya despite being close to it.
Gyms. Limited compared with central Pattaya. Some local gyms exist, and clients wanting a full free-weight setup usually travel south. Naklua is close enough to central Pattaya that a day-pass gym session is realistic, though it does add travel at each end.
Condo gyms. Mixed, and skewed towards the smaller end. There are some large developments with proper facilities, and a lot of smaller buildings with a modest room. Because the area is less tourist-driven, buildings are more often designed around residents than around a photogenic facility list.
Outdoors. Decent, and quieter than anywhere central. Less congested roads and pockets of open space make early-morning outdoor sessions straightforward. It is also the area where a session is least likely to be interrupted by traffic noise.
The usual constraint. Travel time. Naklua is at the northern end of the coverage area, so scheduling matters more than in the centre. A regular fixed slot works better than short-notice bookings.
East Pattaya
Who is there. Inland, east of Sukhumvit Road. This is where long-term residents live in houses rather than condos — families, couples who wanted a garden, and people who traded a sea view for space. A large and genuinely settled foreign population, but spread out over a wide area.
Gyms. Scattered. There are gyms out here and they are not clustered the way central Pattaya’s are, so what is available depends heavily on exactly where you are.
Home training. This is East Pattaya’s advantage and it is a real one. Houses mean space — a garage, a terrace, a garden, a spare room — and that is a better training environment than most condo gyms. Portable equipment plus a few square metres of shaded outdoor space is a genuinely good setup. Some houses also have a home gym already.
Outdoors. Good in your own garden or on a quiet soi, subject to shade and the time of day. Less good as a general proposition, because pavements are inconsistent and the roads are built for cars.
The honest note. East Pattaya is a large, low-density area and the practical question is travel time rather than willingness. Whether a session in your part of it works depends on where it sits in the day’s schedule. Ask — give your nearest main road or landmark and a couple of times that suit you, and you will get a straight answer rather than a maybe.
Travel time is the limit, not a radius
Jack travels to the client. There is no service-area map with a circle drawn on it, because a circle would be misleading in a city where a three-kilometre trip can take ten minutes or forty depending on the hour.
What actually determines whether a slot works:
- Where the session sits in the day. A booking that follows another one nearby is easy. An isolated booking at the far end of the coverage area in traffic is harder.
- Whether it is a regular slot. A fixed weekly time is much easier to accommodate than ad hoc requests, particularly for outlying areas.
- Time of day. Early morning is the easiest time to reach anywhere in Pattaya, which is convenient because it is also the best time to train in this climate.
- Which format you want. A gym session can move to whichever facility sits between you and the rest of the day. A condo session cannot move at all.
If you are outside the areas above — further south past Jomtien, or out towards Sattahip — ask rather than assume. The answer will depend on the day and the time, and you will get a straight one.
What to tell Jack when you get in touch
Four things, and it saves several rounds of messages.
- Your area, and something specific. A nearest main road, a landmark or a soi. “Pattaya” covers a lot of ground.
- Which format you would prefer — a gym, your condo or house, or outdoors. If you are not sure, say that and describe what your building has.
- What times actually work. Including whether you can do early mornings, which are the easiest to schedule and the best for training here.
- What you want out of it. Strength, fat loss, mobility, getting back into it after years off. It changes the format recommendation.
Message on WhatsApp, LINE or Facebook, or use the booking form. If you are staying in a hotel rather than living here, hotel gym training is the relevant page instead.
Frequently asked questions
Which areas does Jack cover?
Clients train in Central Pattaya, Jomtien, Pratumnak and Naklua. East Pattaya works subject to scheduling because it is large and low-density. Jack travels to the client, so the practical limit is travel time rather than a fixed radius.
Do you charge extra for travel to my area?
Ask when you enquire. Pricing depends on session length, location and package — the factors are on the prices page and a specific quote takes one message.
I live in East Pattaya in a house. Does that work?
Often very well, because houses have space and a garage or shaded terrace beats most condo gyms. The question is travel time and where the session sits in the day. Give your nearest main road and a couple of times that suit you.
Which area is best if I want proper barbell training?
Central Pattaya. It has the widest choice of full free-weight gyms within a short trip, so day-pass gym training is easiest there. See gym personal training.
Which area is best for outdoor sessions?
Jomtien, for the long flat beach road and lower congestion. Pratumnak is good if you want hills, and Naklua is the quietest. Early morning in all cases — see training in Pattaya heat.
My condo gym looks poor. Is that a problem?
Not necessarily. Jack brings portable kit, and a modest room plus what he carries covers a lot. If your goal needs heavy loading, a gym day pass is the better answer.
Tell Jack where you are
Give your nearest main road or landmark, the times that work for you, and whether you would rather train at a gym, at home or outdoors.
